Happy Father’s Day to all of you dads out there! Wanted to share the card I made with Sizzix dies and the Silhouette Cameo for Father’s Day. It was inspired by this project:

http://sizzixblog.blogspot.com/2012/06/gearing-up-for-fathers-day.html

but my version is modified since I could not acquire all the components locally in time.

The gears, butterfly, ticket, and cards are all from Sizzix dies–the Steampunk stamp is from Tim Holtz. The “DAD” lettering was made with the Silhouette Cameo. I made a paper template for the little manilla cardstock envelope (2 1/4″ x 2″) and cut and scored it.

Hope all of you enjoyed a great day!

There are many things to love about this European fine line pen from JetPens besides the gorgeous color, but one of them is that I don’t have to worry about it drying out quickly. I don’t know about you, but I am always leaving the caps off of my pens or not replacing them tightly enough. The formulation in the water-based ink lets you leave it the cap off for an extended period of time, though, and it retains its full color–love that!

The color is very vibrant–it is a darker shade on plain paper and lighter on cold press watercolor paper. The 0.4 fine tip is one of my favorites for writing as well as adding fine detail to a drawing, and it worked very well for that. There’s a range of 25 beautiful colors to choose from as well.

Go on over and take a look–I think you’ll like these and more at JetPens!

I like to use a white pen outline on the cards that I make as well as occasionally write on dark paper; but I really didn’t believe that anyone made a white pen that didn’t stick or skip after one or two uses. I’ve seen the Jet Pens recommended on other sites, so I decided to finally give them a try.

So far, the pens are a WOW–they have a smooth writing flow with no skips or fading on the page.

I’ll let you know how they work for me on a variety of media in the next few weeks–

Like so many moms, she made a bigger deal out of our birthdays than her own. I think we all remember her 70th birthday, though, when we surprised her by all showing up in Florida. It was a memorable–mostly all girls (sorry, Michael!)–weekend complete with family slides and lots of laughter. I’m glad that we have that special time to remember.
